Malta in October

DH, DS (will be 22 months) and I are thinking of going to Malta. We'd like to stay in a 3/4/5* hotel with a heated swimming pool. We'd like to take in some of the historical sites but also do some fun things for DS.

Any recommendations of where to stay/things to do etc? How easy is it to get around?

PILs live out there, loads to do for kids and very friendly.

Public transport is excellent - try to get across to Gozo if you can - it's where the Maltese go to escape the tourists
