Need hotel in west(ish) London

My best mate and I are having an overnighter in London after Xmas, sans the babies (hoorah!) and I can't seem to find anywhere nice to stay. Everywhere that looks good on one site or other has a dreadful review on tripadvisor.com

We're staying on a sunday for just one night. We're taking in a few galleries and cocktails/meal, etc so not too worried about being near to the shops. We'd be approaching from the west so thought kensington, nottinghill area would be good. We don't want to spend anything more than about £120 for a twin room, but we'd like something a bit trendy/boutique maybe - not travelodge-type thing!- as this will be a big treat for us.

Any ideas?

Have you tried Airmiles? We stayed at the Halkin in Knightsbridge and it was fab, we used some airmiles that we had and got it for a great deal. I think the airmiles website do some good offers even if you want to pay without using airmiles.

Millenium Baileys opposite Gloucester Road tube is nice for a short stay and there's lots of eclectic shops and restaurants around there too. Breakfast is included in the room rate.
