Hi.

I am planning a winter-sun break in Feb with our two year old, and have decided that the Canaries is a far was I want to go. I am after a nice hotel on a sandy beach.
Has anyone stayed in Princess Yaiza on the Playa Blanca or Gran Malia Salinas on Costa Tequise?

Thanks in advance!

Just got back from the Natura Palace hotel at Playa Blanca which I would recommend. this was my first 'big hotel' experience and I thought the hotel was very pleasant, staff were very good, food ok (buffet style, lots of choice but not top quality iyswim), room fantastic (we opted for a suite with our two boys and it was really lovely - not a cheap option - but very good value I woudl say). the location is some way out of playa blanca, on the seafront, about 20 mins walk along the promenade (no cars) to the nearest tourist beach (soft yellow sand, very shallow, ideal for children) but there is a small beach area right near the hotel which was virtually empty and fine for digging in (small people) or a bracing swim (adults).

Saw the Princess Yaiza - it is prob about 20 mins from the centre of playa blanca in the opp direction and right on a nice sandy but busy touristy beach. I would imagine its very nice.
hth.

Have eaten at the Grand Melia but not stayed - too expensive with 2 teenagers! Stayed 2 or 3 times at Occidental Oasis just as you come in to Costa Teguise and had really good time there. Lovely rooms, good food but not as good as Melia! Think it is the only 5 star on the island. Do report back if you go.

stayed at the gran malia many, many years ago - for work (conference). Very swish and good service. Not what you'd call full of character, but nice beach and pool and a power shower that knocks you accross the room.
