Can you take a baby car seat (ie rear facing one with handle) into the cabin with you?

I have a 10 month old and we're flying to France next week. I had planned to take the car seat and pushchair frame only - use this combo when out and about, would also make for slightly less luggage.

I know I'd have to put the frame in the hold (hopefully at the last minute just as we board the plane) but would quite like to carry DS onto the plane in his car seat.

Anyone know if Easyjet allows this? Am very reluctant to let the car seat out of my sight as I've seen the way luggage is handled and I'm worried lobbing it about would undermine its safety.

i doubt it as its too big to go in the over head compartment and you'll not have a seat for the baby.

Don't know if Easyjet do but have flown a variety of other airlines who did.
