Any recommendations? We are after a really nice place, with lots of swimming, nice family accommodation, a kids club, activities including watersports and other more chilled activities for adults such as cooking, yoga, artie stuff, nice beach, some beachside restaurants. Have never been on a ressort style holiday - usually would rent a house and make our own entertainment, but fancy having kids off our hands occasionally and having an easier holiday. Not keen on lots of nightlife apart from peaceful restaurants and bars, would like to avoid all things golfing and high rises, somewhere with an eco spin would be great.

We love Indigo Pearl in Phuket. It's special enough for adults but good kids club, lovely beach with activities, scuba, quiet restaurants on the beach, lovely family rooms. Bit more special than a lot of family places. It's in a quiet corner of Phuket (away from Patong), in the marine park so lots of good snorkeling in 4ft of water. Service is some of the best we've ever had, great babysitting too if you want dinner without the kids.

Club Med occasionally has special offers. We used them pretty frequently.

Hi - you could try Karma Samui - here's a link
It has village-style villas (luxury though!) so the opposite of high rise, and has a kids club, tennis, etc. Although it doesn't say so on the link, they do Street Cooking classes where the hotel chefs take you on a tour of the local hawker markets, learning about the ingredients then recreating the dishes in your hotel villa!
