We're looking to go away for a few days this week, thursday to sunday. Can anyone recommend good, not too expensive child friendly hotels in england with plenty to do around and about, apart from centre parks? Children are 3y and 13m.

Hi, this one has been recommended to me but i havent stayed there. Its the carlyon bay hotel in cornwall. it has outdoor pool, set on the beach, has things like early dinners, child listening, child entertainment etc. apparently, they go all out for kids and make them really welcome so that the parents can relax.you can find it if you do a search but i cant do links.theres also a site called something like 'and baby comes too' which might be worth looking at

The Priory Inn in Tetbury (grumpyfrumpy's link) is excellent - contemporary styling, good foog AND totally child friendly. We're off there tomorrow in fact

terryschonkyorange · 01/01/2006 23:04

food not foog

Can highly recommend Bedruthan Steps in Cornwall. Fantastic childcare, lots of things to do, etc. Could also have a look at babygoes2.com, they have lots of reviews of child friendly hotels in England with or without childcare

How about one of these, all run by same company specialising in luxury family hotels, with plenty of activities layed on for the kids?

Moonfleet Manor

Fowey Hall

Dower House

The Ickworth Hotel

Woolley Grange

What does "bumping" mean? Do I speak the same language as you? : )

We've just had a weekend at Moonfleet Manor, Dorset, one of the luxury family hotels group. While food and service in the restaurant were excellent, we were disappointed with the facilities and felt that the hotel was a bit tired and musty. This was a seriously expensive weekend for us, and I was left feeling that we could have had a week somewhere nice for the same amount! We won't go back.

Based on the recommendations on this thread from terryschonkyorange and grumpyfrumpy we've just spent four nights at the Priory Inn in Tetbury and agree that it is great and very toddler-friendly. We'll definitely go again. Mumsnet comes up trumps again!
