We live in the South West have a car and a tent if need be, no money though. Please recommend somewhere very very cheap. We can drive, fly or sail and don't mind UK or abroad although realize UK will be cheaper.

Thanks in advance.

What about woodlands near Dartmouth, caping fee give free entry to the theme park

Kendodd · 25/05/2011 16:35

We live very close to Woodlands and wanted to go a bit further. Thanks though.

Anyone else?

How about camping in France?

The Dover to Calais crossing isn't too expensive iirc.

Kendodd · 25/05/2011 16:49

We would love to go camping in France but it's just so difficult to fine the cheapest fares. Ferry companies never seem to have timetables with prices on.

Dover - Calais with Seafrance was about £140 return last August, booked less than a month ahead. Tunnel was just over £200. Portsmouth -Caen at same time was around £350 and less availability.

ENormaSnob · 25/05/2011 20:40

Think we paid about £100 for dover to calais.

Post in the camping section, i'll bet someone can advise.

Do you have any tesco vouchers? maybe you could use those for eurotunnel?

fivegomadindorset · 27/05/2011 16:12

Try Dover-Dunkirk on Norfolk line.

ellerman · 21/06/2011 12:10

We used Tesco vouchers to stay at apartment in Manorbier YH last year.

ChippyMinton · 21/06/2011 14:16

You don't have to travel both ways with the same ferry company, mix & match to get the best fares. Norfolk Line is often the cheapest.

Do a house swap? If you're in the SW, you're where many people want to go on holiday.

mummymeister · 21/06/2011 14:52

Good idea about the house swap. Check your contents and home policy first though as some don't cover you if you do this! What about going to some of the festivals in Cornwall and camping out - not sure when the elephant festival is on at Port Eliot but that sort of thing. Polzeath - you can camp on the cliffs. also try Bude. What about a working holiday - where you pick stuff in the morning and have the afternoons off or the conservation volunteers website has family stuff as well.
