Ventnor is lovely. Steephil Cove reached via the Botanical Gardens in Ventnor is a hidden paradise. Shanklin Chine is very very pretty, you have to pay which is a little cheeky but worth it. At the bottom of the Chine is a pub called Fishermans Cottage right on the beach.

Loads of places to eat, can't remember them all but you won't have a problem finding somewhere decent.

Carrisbrooke Castle is a great day out. We loved Blackgang Chine theme Park too as it has a nostalgic feel to it and is in a beautiful setting.

Ryde has a lovely wide sandy beach when the tide is out - The Dell Cafe at the end has lovely smoothies and sandwiches.
St Helens Duver (turn right and park in National trust Car park £2 all day much cheaper than council car park on the left) this has a sandy area and at low tide nice little rock pools to poke in.
My DD who is 7 always moans that Steephill Cove is not worth the walk from either Ventnor town or the botanical gardens.
The old fort cafe/bar in seaview is lovely for food. It is worth checking out wwwmattandcat.co.uk for food recommendations. Matt and Cat have children and live on the IOW and are brutally honest in their reviews which they run for no other reason than trying to improve the food offering on the IOW.
We go to the IOW 6-8 times a year a lot out of season and we never do any more than walk in the woods and on the beach. We keeping meaning to visit Blackgang, Robin Hood park, Brading villa etc, but the beach keeps drawing us back.
