Looking at going to the Italian Riviera with 2 7yr old boys in August. Looks gorgeous but kids used to complexes with kids clubs etc - has anyone been that can recommend a town/area that will keep us all happy - Pietra Ligure came up as being nice and would like to visit Genoa and Portofino. Plan to hire a car to get around and happy to stay in a campsite, hotel or sc apartment.

We have previously stayed here in Ceriale. Nice apartments, great pool and 5 mins walk from the sandy beach and restaurants.

At the other end of the riviera we stayed here in Deiva Marina. Again lovely apartments, though no pool. 2 mins to beach but pebbles here. It was really handy for the Cinque Terre villages - absolutely stunning scenery - by train and you could do boat trips up and down the coast as far as Portovenere/Lerici and the Bay of Poets. We got a boat to Portofino from Ste Margherita Ligure. It is gorgeous, but very expensive (a bit like me Wink)

You can walk between all of the Cinque Terra villages though some stretches would be hard going. Via Dell Amore is an easy bit - mostly flat, that even little children could manage. You can get a pass for the train and hop on and off. Watching the sunset over Vernazza is one of my best all time memories.

Another place I have bookmarked for the future is Loano 2. Loano is a lovely little town. Long promenade with bars and restaurants and a sandy beach. One road back from there is the old town.
