I am going tomorrow, very excited. Does anyone know if you are allowed to take your own pic-nic in? Wine :o

Pretty sure you are, but the only seating belongs to the food concessions - so bring a rug. There's usually a space for picnickers in the Ranelagh Gardens bit of the ground.

Thanks Edith, so its ok to take a drink in?

Disclaimer: it's two years since I last went, but I'm pretty sure I took a water bottle. Is there anything about this on the bumf that came with the tickets?

deepdarkwood · 23/05/2011 22:43

Yes, shouldn't be a problem - seating is at a premium, but have always found a perch Smile

Worried abit about seating as dh still gets very tired after the last lot of chemo.

Pretend you're buying a luxury conservatory (sorry, orangery) and go and sit in one and chat to the sales staff. Some stands have water coolers too and are often happy to hand the odd cup out. If it gets really difficult, there are plenty of uniformed stewards who can take you to the first aiders.

I went last year and not a problem to take picnics, but it will be v.crowded so if you own one of those shooting stick things i think it'd be useful for your dh (so that he can have a little perch/rest}.

Have a lovely time. I'd suggest doing the outdoor gardens early and then moving into the pavilion.

Am very envious. This year I am in Brisbane so no chance of visiting Sad and it's making me feel v.homesick.

Hi............back home to nurse my blisters! What a fabulous experience Chelsea is, soo much to see and take in, lovely atmosphere, beautiful gardens, a real joy. Then it was all spoilt by my dh wallet being nicked out of his rucksack on the crowded tube, everything gone inc our return home tickets. Today we saw a matinee of Les Miserable, made us forget about the wallet, luckily our tickets were left at the hotel. A fantastic, beautiful show, the songs are still in my head.......back to reality and getting the credit cards etc sorted out!

Oh shit - what a wanker that thief is.

I'm glad you had a good day at Chelsea and then at Les Mis, and I hope that your DH didn't get too tired.

Good luck with getting the cards sorted.
