Flotilla holidays

Has anyone been on a flotilla holiday?

We are due to go this summer with our 2 teenagers. We used to (pre dc) sail a lot and had our own boat, so the sailing side of things should be fine.
Just interested to know if anyone had any tips/hints/recommendations to make.

Thank you.

Been there, done that, absolutely loved it.
Tips; take 2 lots of towels, one for the sea and one for the showers at port, take or acquire a shopping basket because you'll be shopping most mornings for lunch and (a lot of) water, and do pack some pretty things to wear for the evenings; everyone seem scrub up rather enthusiastically, oh, and write a journal as by the end of the week you've seen and done so much that things tend to be a bit blurry.
It's a really good mix of "only us" time and ready made social life and I should think that teenagers will love it too, there is plenty of night life to be enjoyed. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for the tips vadrouille, can I ask where did you go and with which company? Were your fellow sailors all British?
We are going with Sunsail, out of Dubrovnik.

Well, you'll have to let me know about Yugoslavia, I have been wondering about it as it looks stunning!
We went to Greece with Sunvil and they were great. Saw a lot of Sunsail and it looked very similar and equally good.
People were all British with a sprinkling of Irish, and a lone Frog (me!).
Before we went I was rather worried about the "group" aspect of the holiday but it was fine and in fact quite refreshing to meet a mixed bag (in a very good way) of people for a change. Everyone was really nice in our flotilla, but I should think that if that hadn't been the case, it wouldn't have been a problem.
Despite all of the above, it was all daggers out on regatta day thought!

We've done Ionian flotillas with Neilson in case you are interested in those....? There were plenty of teenagers on the "family" flotillas.

I did a fab one - about 14 yrs ago now with Neilson????? Lefkas based - went around the Ionian area of greece. It was for total novices, 3 days training then off on our own (madness). I was with my husband No.1 then so a bit blurry. I found the main sail training and anchoring really hard.

Just loved it but watch the heat - buy suncream - once stuff and sun block.

Wash your clothes there and some places have washing machines. Take the least possible as space is a premuim. Plenty of plasters, make sure everything is tired down too or attached to yourself. Gloves!!!

Would consider again when children are older.
