hello, we plan to take. our 3 year old from the 3rd- 10th of september Looking for something relativley quiet and the distance to the beach is our priority, though I plan to hire a car. Also steering clear of the usual suspects.

Will the north coast locations such as playa des fornells/Arenal d'en castelle be too windy?
Any advice about specfic rentals/resorts/complexes is welcome.

Most 2 bed accomodations seem to have two twin rooms, is this standard?

The North coast is no windier than the South, it just depends which direction the wind is blowing that day. Grin

I've stayed in 2 bedroomed (1 double, 1 twin or bunks) in Arenal, at both Sol Isla and Arepar Apartments (now part of Isla Paraiso I think). Spacious, clean and comfortable, within a very easy walk of the beach. Arepar / Isla Paraiso were a bit more upmarket IMO.

I've hired privately for several years in Playas des Fornells, via Owners Direct or a lovely company called GW Villa Rentals (www.gwvillarentals.com) - she has a good choice of 2 bedroomed apartments, some with swimming pools. The only package holiday apartments there that I know of, are the Tramuntana Park but I haven't stayed there.

Playas des Fornells can be very quiet outside of July/August (the quieter the better for me), but we took our DS to both of these resorts, when he was 4 and 5 respectively.

We really liked Punta Prima on east coast nr Mahon, small village/resort, not too busy with a few restaurants & cafe's, nice for young family & very close to everything

Stayed here

ps our DS was just under 3 when we took him & it was perfect.

We stayed at the resort ImeldaM linked to in Sept 2009. Dd was 2.4yo.

I warn you, we were there for 7 days and it absolutely poured down for 5 of them.

Oh dear, yes, Menorca can be like that in septemper, for better weather (less chance of rain) you'd be better in Algarve or Costa Del Sol
