Book now for August or wait for last minute deals but risk having no choice

Its a dilemma. We are looking at self-catering in the UK (either cottage or holiday park) and it is so expenseive (I don't want to camp this year as I have a non sleeping toddler). Do we bite the bullet and accept the price or wait to see if we can get a last minute deal but risk having no choice.

any thoughts? thanks

We had simialr last year and there was availability at some of the Hoseasons places (the apartment/cottage ones not just caravan sites) but not much discount for late booking. tbh we found better deals going to France. do you need to go in August ?

Yes, unfortunately (DH a teacher). He is a private tutor so we have to factor in how much we loose when he takes time off and as he has very few lessons in August it doesn't make sense for him to have time off any other time.
