want to take ds to morocco but passport expires

I don't think so unless you get the passport replaced before you go.

oh ok will have to pay loads then before we go!! bugger!! wanted to take him for half term but that looks out now!!

No. You need 6 months on your passport to travel.

My DS2's GF suddenly realised that her passport had expired about 3 days before their holiday!
She and her mother went up to the Passport Office in London, with new photos, and managed to get it renewed, so it is possible.
