A friend wants to take her first 'abroad' holiday to Spain next October with her dh and 3 kids. Can anyone recommend a place/accommodation that is reasonably priced which is near the beach and has a pool? Also recommend any local attractions that may suit the kids (all aged under 8)? Also close to an airport. As it is their first time, but want to do it DIY, need to have everything close by IYKWIM. Thanks.

Hi, bluestar. No specific accommodation recommendations but Torremolinos has nice beach and is close to Malaga airport (but not too close).

We went at Easter and a lot of the attractions (water parks etc) were closed until late May - I don't know when they close at the end of the summer, but suspect they will have closed by October. The beaches were doing pedalo hire etc though. There is a lovely zoo at Fuengirola.

Do they want hotel or apartment or villa? We rented a villa via this website and it has apartments too - total of 658 units in Costa del Sol alone!

yes, the water parks shut at the end of September. I'm sure there are other things though.
