Hiya

We are going to take a (term time - don't shoot me!) holiday near Montpelier next month. We will have an apartment, but other than that, no plans Smile.

What would you recommend to do in the area - we have two children 11 and 6.

If you will have a car I would recommend a trip to the Miliau (sp?) bridge. Iirc it's not too far and the village itself is quite nice. Think there are toll roads to get there and you have to pay to drive over the bridge. It's a beautiful bridge and well worth a trip.

Visit Aigues-Morts - a lovely walled town. You can do boat trips and they have a little road train. It is very beautiful.

Montpellier tourist information

There is an aquarium in Montpellier and another sea-world type place at La Grand Motte I think.

There are lots of lovely beaches.

We visited a dinosaur parc just south of Montpellier a couple of years ago. here - with a few more suggestions

It's actually better looking at it from a bit of a distance as you can't really see much if it when you're on it. They have special viewing places and a visitor centre showing how it was built etc. V interesting. Have a great hol!

We might have to go and have a look at the bridge this year. We are going to La Carabasse near Beziers in July. I don't think I would want to drive over it either!

Montpellier itself is lovely -lots of little windy streets and pretty squares. I would quite like to move there!

we are going to port grimaud in august and dh has expressed his interest in taking a detour to Millau on the way home. Not quite sure the word detour covers it...more driving in completely the wrong direction just because we are in the same country springs to mind!

Port Grimaud is lovely! I love France.
