Air bags and children in the front..

DS is old enough / tall enough to not need a car seat now. Does this mean he is also okay to go in the front seat, if there is an air bag does anyone know? OR is it specific to the car and the type of airbag?

TIA

i think as long as seat is back as far as it can go then yes

The airbag thing is because it comes out at chest level for adults so face level for babies/small children. It really depends on how tall your DS is from the waist up. If he's the same as an adult, then it's fine

wow, that was quick! thank you.
He's not that tall, but tall enough to no longer need a child seat.

well according ti this I am talking bollocks apparently child should be 12yr size

thanks for that ggrl. There does seem to be so much varying information. My interpretation is that he can go in the front but he will be much safer in the back Smile

I had the passenger side one disabled. Lots of new cars now have switches so you can do this yourself but I had mine done at a garage.

You can disable some airbags, but I would check with the garage/manufacturere. sSmetimes disabling the airbag invalidates the insurance policy.

ChristinedePizan is absolutely correct. The daughter of a friend of mine nearly had her nose broken by a passenger airbag, because she wasn't really tall enough to be in the front seat.
