Places to eat near the ferry terminal at Portsmouth

We're catching the overnight ferry to St Malo at the beginning of June, and as it sails at 20.30 which is after 2 yo dd's bedtime I thought it would be better to eat beforehand.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Gunwharf Quays looks a good bet, but I've heard it's expensive - and we sail on a Saturday night, so will it be packed? I wanted to stick to dd's usual teatime, so it needs to be somewhere that accepts children, starts serving before 6 and won't take forever!

Website for Gunwharf Quays giving details also of restaurants:-

www.gunwharf-quays.com. Both Chiquitos and Giraffe are family friendly.

Did not find this area unreasonably expensive. Saturday afternoons can get busy in this area as it is also a shopping mall.

Definitely Gunwharf. Saturday's do get really busy but virtually all the restaurants are family friendly so you shouldn't have any problems. We always enjoyed Wagamama.

Thanks for the confirmation, I feel more confident!
