Can you take a parasol on holiday abroad?

It wont fit in the case though as its 100 cm long.....the hotel where we are staying has had reports of hardly any...and we have babies going,so need shade.I know we could buy 1 there but just wanted to know could we take it as hand luggage?Thanks

wouldn't popup tent type shade be a lot easier?

Yes, you can but, if it won't go in your case, you will either have to count it as one of your luggage items or pay for excess luggae. Alternatively, you can buy parasols in supermarkets/shops when you get there.
