2.5 year old in London - where's the best place to go?

I am in London for a day with my ds (2.5 years) and wondered if he would be up to a museum. I was thinking either Natural History or Science - are either better for this age or too much. Any other suggestions on what to do for the day would be greatly received. We are going up beginning of December and I am sure a trip to Hamleys will be on the agenda also (and for me to see the lights as well as him!).

I would take him briefly to see the t-rex skeleton in the Nat History Museum, then go straight next door to the science museum. The basement there has a great toddlers hands on section which will keep him occupied for a while!

If you are going during teh week then the santa at Harrods is free and usually very good with a nice present (make sure you hit santa before the end of local school time when it gets very busy).

A visit to Harrods toy dept and then the pet dept usually goes down well

Have a lovely day

Thanks Soapbox. I've heard there is a good restaurant that is child friendly in the Science Museum (all blue apparently?) - I will give this a go and Santa in Harrods is a great idea - I just hope he doesn't get freaked out by Santa!
