we stayed at cherry tree parkdean a few years ago caravan was nice and clean and we just had a basic one. quite a small site tho.

We went to the aquarium which dd liked, and the rides on the pier. Went to petitts and pleasurewood hills both of which were good days out and not too busy. bewilderwood looks good but we still had one in a buggy so we didn't go. Have been to banham zoo before and thats really good, not too sure how nr that is to yarmouth tho.

Bewilderwood is more treehouse with rope bridges between.
It's brilliant for children.
The dinosaur park is also fairly near there and is always a big hit.

wouldn't bother with the aquarium though

TorcherQueenie · 27/04/2011 16:25

Joyland on the sea front is good for children of her age its smaller rides but still quite good fun think they're still £1 a ride too. Pleasurewood Hills is more for the older children.

Don't bother with Amazonia they're bloody rude and rubbish Angry

thinks Pettits is good for little ones though as they have the petting zoo. The model village also on the sea front is quite sweet too.

I lived there most of my life and my Nan still does so we stay with her at least once a year for 2 weeks Grin

If you can take a carvan in caister-on-sea its about a five minute drive from Yarmouth but the prices are cheaper and the beach is far quiter its a lovely little village and where I spent my teenage years just across the road from the beach [happy sigh]

Africa Alive is a pretty good zoo, and it's the sister zoo to Banham which is where we went yesterday. Both nice for a day out, lots of animals to look at, not much else to do though if your dd is fairly active. My dd's 4 & 2 had a nice time but they're still at the stage of just being madly impressed from looking at things!

bewilderwood is fabulous, but very, very expensive!!

SpringHeeledJack · 07/05/2011 20:45

bewilderwood is fabulous- worth every damn penny as far as I'm concerned. Get there early on a sunny day and stay till they kick you out!

it's great for 6 yos- better than somewhere like Go Ape, ime

I really love it

the dcs quite like it, too Grin

Bewilderwood is brilliant - Its about £13 - We had to pay full price for DD (5) cos she was tall enough to use everything and she did - Its amazing, little boat rides, den building, big slides, tree houses. She loved it - We spent about 5 hours there and could have easily spent longer.

If you want a lovely pub lunch at the side of the river, visit the Rising Sun at Cottishall, its about 5 minutes from Bewilderwood and lovely if the weather is nice. The food is gorgeous.

Banham zoo is lovely but is about an hour or just over away from G Yarmouth. They have started doing an animal passport thing where you hunt for stamps around the zoo and get a medal. DD loved doing this.

Hire a boat and go on the Broads for a few hours.

If you want a nice beach, I would recomment Gorleston or Caister.

We did Cherry Tree at Park Dean - Not too far away from Yarmouth or Caister but also quieter - Has a small pool, food, evening entertainment, play areas etc. Its like a Haven but not quite there if you see what I mean, but its cheaper as well. Only cost us £350 for a week at easter in a 3 bed deluxe

We also hired cycles a few years ago (from Bewilderwood carpark), some lovely cycle routes, many off road.

Don't do the aquarium - £14 a person and you will be in an out in about 30 minutes

Fritton Lake is reasonably priced, and about 6 miles from Great Yarmouth. Main attraction is v big play area.

myron · 09/05/2011 17:33

Bewilderwood was fab - DCs (7 & 4) loved it & so did DH & I. We went a fortnight ago and then had a late lunch at nearby Wroxham Barns.

MegBusset · 09/05/2011 17:38

Dinosaur Adventure is brilliant. Pettitts fine for a couple of hours, the aquarium a total rip-off!

You can use Tesco vouchers at Pleasurewood Hills which will get you in at 1/3 of the price, we haven't been yet but it's on the list.

gillybean2 · 15/05/2011 15:25

Highly recommend bewilderwood. I was determined to go when we went away with a group who had never heard of it. They all said it was fab and the one family that didn't come seriously missed out. His sister said the boys would of loved it.

We also went to pleasurewood hills (it's a good theme park and can use tesco vouchers to get in bit cheaper). Some of the rides are extra though but you can avoid most of those.

Families with younger dc went to pettits and said it was great.

We stayed in hemsby www.richardsonsholidayparks.co.uk/holiday-park/hemsby-beach/1/?gclid=CKflpM2U6qgCFYEc4Qod_EVPDQ
the town itself was a bit tired but it was so close to a wonderful sandy beach and the accomodation was very reasonable for the price with a well equiped kitchen and entertainment in the evenings it was fine. Not luxury by any means but reasonable for the price (though we stayed at easter when it is cheaper, summer is steeper but then where isn't it!?)
