Liquid antibiotic on a plane - where to pack it?

Ds has today been prescribed liquid antibiotics for a throat infection and will still be taking them when we fly this weekend.

The bottle would fit more than 100mls so I'm not sure where I should pack it. Ideally he would have a dose just before we fly and they need to be kept cool too.

Any help would be appreciated.

How soon before you fly? Before check in? Could you not have the bottle out for a dose, then pack it in the hold baggage (in a cool bag thing) whilst queueing for bag drop?

Else decant a small amount into a less than 100ml bottle for the preflight dose and pack the rest.

I wouldn't worry too much about the temp thing, especially in the hold - very cold in there!

Well it's due at lunchtime, we fly at 12.30 so before check in wouldn't be ideal but I think that's probably the best solution.

Thanks for thinking so clearly - my dislike of airport security procedures (well the way that it varies from airport to airport) has clouded my thinking tonight!!

I flew last week with my son using antibiotic liquid. I just kept the bottle (with the prescription label) in my hand luggage and there was no trouble. You do need to put it in a separate clear bag though (I forgot to do so and had my bag searched as a result!). I checked with the person at check in and she said there was no problem if the prescription was attached.

That's reassuring.

I checked with Easyjet and they said we needed a Drs letter to confirm why he needed it etc which we've got today so I think we'll take it on board with us, otherwide he'd end up having doses at 7am, 9.30am and then not again until about 6pm
