Baby-friendly accommodation in Paphos?

Hi, hoping some mumsnetters might have recommendations for us. We're hoping to go to a friend's wedding in Paphos, Cyprus this October. Our baby would be 6 months old. Advice re. whether to stay in a hotel or do self-catering would be helpful! e.g. would self-catering be better, as we might be weaning onto solids by then (harder to do in a hotel maybe)? Any recommendations on places to stay gratefully received! Thanks :)

There are plenty of family friendly places to stay and loads of different price ranges too. there are apartment complexes that also have restaurants so if you wanted to go self catering you could or you could use their facilities if and when you wanted.

The St George is a nice hotel, as is the Queens Bay (small family run place) or the Akti holiday village (apartments but has restaurant). the three above are quite a way out of the centre though but buses are cheap enough to get you wherever.

Also the Alexander the Great hotel is lovely but can be a bit pricey and this is a lot nearer the harbour/ touristy area.

I know Paphos well as my parents live there and we area cutally moving there in a couple of weeks so if there is anythnig else you want to ask go ahead!

We stayed in Hotel Aloe, was quite good just bed and breakfast, i'd recommend the Athena Beach (but quite a trek to the harbour where everything is) or Alexander the Great (this was over the road and looked amazing) and is not too far from the main part of the harbour and shops etc!! There is a great tesco type supermarket down by the harbour, so you can get british baby food etc in there :)

I find self catering in an apartment so much easier with children. Check out www.ownersdirect.co.uk for private holiday rentals.

Paphos is lovely, although very touristy now.

Down the road from Paphos is Aphrodite Hills - around 20 mins. There's an Intercontinental hotel there, loads of facilities for families, restaurants, bars etc, and also they have self-catering villas with pools so the best of both worlds. We stayed there last year in a two bed villa. Great golf club too! In Oct although some restaurants and beach clubs may be closed but less busy. If you want childcare, the travel company Scott Dunn (we've skiied with them) are opening a kid's club at Aphrodite hills this summer - great for young children.

We loved Almyra in Paphos - it has baby equipment for your room, all ready and waiting! You just select what you want in advance... saves you having to bring with the worlds largest suitcase.
They also have a charming creche for babies - not that you'd want to dump your little one there the whole time, but very nice if you want to slip off for a spa treatment (or snooze!).
You can get organic baby purees and sterilisers (for bowls, not people!!) there too, so moving onto solids should be fine.
Despite it being very baby friendly it is also very stylish in terms of decor so you don't feel like your completely surrendering your life to parenthood.
It's 4/5 star I think, but there do seem to be some good deals around.
Here is the link...
Hope helps!
