Can I take a birthday cake on a flight to Europe?!

that's it really. Can I take a birthday cake on a BA flight to Amsterdam on Monday? Or will they think it's a dodgy security threat?! ( Well it might be if I tried to make it!) It will be a small M&S type thing.

I do remember taking an angelina ballerina cake to Barcelona once upon a time But that was 9 years ago and things have changed. DH who is a prolific traveller says that they won't like it. We are also only taking hand luggage.

He also said they have cake in Amsterdam. Obviously I know that but I like to be organised!!

Ring the airline and ask - then let us know.

It might be a different "cake" all together in Amsterdam... Probably not the sort you would want your dd having

BA aren't worried but DH is worried about a jobsworth over zealous security person as it has to go in our hand luggage.

ryanair/easy jet don't let you carry cakes on board

Try it - if its a small cake it won't be a great loss if they don't allow you - worst they can do is ask you to hand it over.

Last time I had a cake on a flight was with Azal from Heathrow to Baku in Azerbaijan in 2000. They got the cake out, opened the vodka, lit the candles and we all sang happy birthday at midnight
