Tried a friends at the w'end and it is amazingly light and easy to steer and nice high handle....but is it worth the money? What are your experiences with it?

I think it's ugly! sorry!
and apparently it's a real nightmare to fold up

desperatehousewife · 01/11/2005 18:56

I think it looks really cool - but yes, agree, the folding isn't brilliant!

my sister had one and hated it, def not worth the money

NotQuiteCockney · 01/11/2005 19:09

A nanny I know uses one and hates it. And she didn't even have to pay for it.

I know a few Bugaboo users who bought their own, and don't know how they feel about it ... I can't bring it up for fear of accidentally calling it the Mugaboo.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/11/2005 19:09

The Mountain Buggy has a reasonably high handle, easy to steer, light, and not so expensive, I think.

I'm sorry I coulnd't push something called the 'mountain buggy' - i don't live near any mountains!! Also it's £550 . Also, don't want a 3 wheeler.

how can it ever be worth the money. its crazy, its like an arms race on the high street with all these freakish prams.

hoxtonchick · 01/11/2005 19:38

i looooooooooove my new mountain buggy, which is coping very well with the mountainous terrain of hackney . but it wasn't anything like £550, dp, more like £370. so not cheap exactly, but less than a bugaboo. it folds really easily too. and light. oh, & it's orange & stripey. i'll shut up now .

hoxtonchick · 01/11/2005 19:39

oh, & i was really anti-3-wheelers too...

NotQuiteCockney · 01/11/2005 19:41

I have a Mountain Buggy and a McLaren. The McLaren folds up smaller, but is much less sturdy, and much less pleasant to push.

(I don't mind spending money on prams - I don't have a car, and I do walk loads. That being said, these are the only two prams I've had and will ever have, probably.)

ToshyTinker · 01/11/2005 19:45

I was anti 3 wheelers as well until given an Urban Detour. Heavy to put in boot but very light to push.

desperatehousewife · 01/11/2005 19:56

surprised not to find any bugaboo fans!

ugly ugly ugly.............. what is happening to buggies these days? They are getting so ugly

wheresmyfroggy · 01/11/2005 19:59

The phil and teds is ace for one baby as itlies flat and sways the baby to sleep. Also handy as it can then be a double. So works out economically.

LadyTophamHatt · 01/11/2005 20:01

they look really rickety too.

MarsLady · 01/11/2005 20:08

frogspawn.... see my post below! lol

wheresmyfroggy · 01/11/2005 20:10

It always looks like the baby is wearing the buggy rather than sitting in it iykwim. When it lies back the babies feet are up higher than their heads too.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/11/2005 20:31

Oh, yeah, if you're considering needing a double eventually, the Phil and Teds seems like the best plan.

desperatehousewife · 01/11/2005 21:17

NQC - this is my second child and LAST! He'll be nearly 4 when the baby is born so no point in going down double route.

I'd love a bugaboo but dd is to big now for one will have to have another baby so i can have one

highlander · 04/11/2005 12:48

the bassinet looks like a skip..... which I think is hilarious when I see all the trendy Gosforth mums out and abuot, avec 3/4 length jeans stilleto heels and lip gloss. Bugaboo - the new Burberry [wink

motheroftwoboys · 04/11/2005 14:20

Highlander - is that Gosforth in Newcastle?

expatinscotland · 04/11/2005 14:23

I find Bugaboos the fugliest buggy I've seen in my life. They look like glorified airport trolleys.
