Going on holiday less than 30 minutes from your own home. genius?

Just got back from our 'holidays'. We rented a pod. A pod is like a shed in the woods, only, er, it's a shed in the woods.

anyway, it was fairly dreadful but the kids loved it and we didn't have to go far (something the kids are oblivious to).

glad to be home Smile

where was your pod, if you don't mind me asking ?

BikeRunSki · 12/04/2011 17:14

Which pods did you go to? We had one booked at the Shropshire place, but i was in hospital when we should have gone. They've let us have credit though, to go another time.

Good idea to go close to home if you feel that you have had a break though.

OnEdge · 12/04/2011 17:16

Yes, very clever ! I am about to spend a week in a caravan 40 minutes away. Just a mare otherwise with 3 kids.

HTFU · 12/04/2011 17:24

no i don't feel i've had a break at all.
but glad i didn't drive nine hours for it.

We've done this with camping. It's great, as if it pisses down continually, you're not far from home. Grin

EggyFucker · 12/04/2011 17:26

that is about 5 hours from me Smile

HTFU · 12/04/2011 17:26

although have to say, incredibly clear night last night and there was actually shadows from the moonlight. not sure i've seen that before.

HTFU · 12/04/2011 17:27

OP posts:
EggyFucker · 12/04/2011 17:29

how do you know where I'm driving from Hmm

HTFU · 12/04/2011 17:31

Mike, i guess it all depends what you're into.
For some people, having to shout 'STOP PLAYING WITH THE DOORS' at 5 minute intervals is a holiday i guess.
Thankfully there's a bar.

Heh heh heh.

HTFU · 12/04/2011 17:35

just read the website again.
low energy lighting, har de fucking har.
they had one of those little LED lights you buy at the checkout in B&Q,
do fuck off.

OP posts:
EggyFucker · 12/04/2011 18:35

will give it a miss, methinks < ahem >

MmeSurvivedLent · 12/04/2011 18:43

Hmm. You are not really selling me on the pods.

HTFU · 12/04/2011 20:12

Well really it was a lovely fun experience for the children.
Especially the doors (and the blind) which seemed to be more interesting than the surrounding forest and park.
And of course, no tv, no laptops, and all that stuff that makes for actually listening to how funny your children are when you actually listen. Blush
it was alright really. although wish we'd taken them up on the offer of breakfast.

OP posts:
HTFU · 12/04/2011 20:12

and the pod was warm and cosy at nice and cool in the day.

not all bad.
