Hi everyone,

its my husbands 30th birthday in december and im looking to take him away for the weekend for it...

the 16th ish probably, and I need some help!

I was thinking about Rome, does anyone know what the weather is actually like? I googled and I know its going to be chilli, but anyone have experience of pouring rain?

Has anyone been at this time and could tell me places to go / special things to do??

Or any other suggestions? I want to take him 5 star I think, and maybe upgrade the flight.

Thanks everyone!

Rome in December - chilly, wet and quiet (according to my Italian family)

We went to Venice in Jan 2010 for DPs birthday. It was amazing pottering around the windy streets with hardly any company. It was a bit wet but it added to the romantic and eerie atmosphere for us. Although a lot of places closed early in the evening etc.

We loved it!

And our flights were £12 each!!

Why not go somewhere deliberately chilly like Iceland then you will be up for the weather. Moscow would also be good - plenty to see and still has an undiscovered air about it. Alternatively go somewhere like Dubai where you know it will be lovely and warm. I would fix your budget first and work backwards from there.
