We are about an hour away on the train from London. I fancy a trip up there with my Mum and dd's 8 and 5. None of us are keen on the tube to be honest. I just fancy an easy day. Havnt been to the tower , but Im not sure if I fancy it. We like museums etc. Any suggestions ?

You could walk across to St Pauls and then onto the museum of london from there.

Or go north/east and have a pootle down brick lane and round spitalfields? Whitechapel Art gallery has good exhibitions on if that floats your boat!

You could go accross the river and visit HMS Belfast - it is really interactive, lots to see and not a bad cafe. My DD 8 and DS 4 love it.

Get a boat from the jetty and see the sights from the Thames.
The Tower is expensive but the Crown Jewels are a MUST!

Can you still visit Tower Bridge? I enjoyed that.

Bank of England Museum.
Barbican Art Gallery
Tate Modern is just about walkable from there.
Geffrye Museum.
spitalfields city farm

if you're ok with buses then you can do loads more - covent garden, transport museum, british museum, hyde park all quite quick on the bus from there.

HMS Belfast
Borough Market and its surroundings
Leadenhall Market
St Pauls
Museum of London
Millennium Bridge and the South Bank
Tate Modern
River Bus
Spitalfields is fun these days
Just generally the City is interesting to wander around - not sure if you can still arrange to go up Tower 42 (phone ahead - might need a passport or licence as ID).
