Hi am having a mad stressful time trying to get hold of my beautiful expensive camera bag, two great lens, a Canon body and two memory cards full of precious photos that I left in a restaurant in Portugal on the last day of my holiday on April 9th. Flew back to U.K. that nite and have been trying to get hold of the restaurant ever since. Their tel number is out of order; I spoke to a guy at a hotel nearby who said he'd pop down and get a mobile number for me, but that's just going straight to answerphone. Lots of precious not yet downloaded shots of my son's Xmas, school play etc. am feeling gutted....
If anyone's in the area you could make me a very happy mummy.
Northern portugal, in the beautiful seaside town of Viana Do Castelo.

Did you find them?

Hi puffling. I phoned the tourist info in Viana and the lady there went down to the cafe to ask if they had my camera. The waiters wouldn't tell her whether or not they had the camera and told her the owner didn't have a phone so I'd have to write to her to ask if she had my camera!
Ridiculous. I then asked a friend whose Dad lives in Portugal if he knew anyone in Viana. He didn't but he phoned the local police there(!) I didn't expect him to phone the police! Anyway the police went down there and surprise surprise they said they do have my camera.
My friend's Dad was heading up there early May so was going to collect it for me (he lives southern portugal) But now his business trip is cancelled, and he's not been up there...so.....the camera is STILL with the cafe owner while I try and try to figure out getting it back.
A courier quoted me 207 euros! Much more than the price of the flight. And the cafe owner would have to package the camera up which I doubt she's willing to do, and they don't take payment from abroad; someone in Portugal would have to pay the 207.
I'm hoping the house keeper at the villa I stayed in is going to go pick up the camera; am waiting to hear back from the villa's owner, then whoever next goes to the villa from the uk can bring it back (there's someone going there in July and my friend is going there Aug) It is getting totally ridiculous now though...wish me luck..Anyone going on hols to Northern Portugal?
