Can any Italy-based MNers give me any advice on buying a car seat in Italy?

I am being an utter skinflint ... Blush

We are travelling to Italy (flying to Rimini then driving to Perugia) with 2.5 yo DD at the beginning of May and I'm trying to sort out car hire. It seems that my options are either to rent a car for £100 then pay an extra £60 to hire a seat for a week or pay £130 then pay an extra £30 for the seat, and it just seems such a rip off (I'm also irritated that if you hire the cheaper car then they just double the cost of the car seat).

I am looking into a couple of companies which hire out baby equipment to see if any of them will deliver to Rimini airport, but it's looking a bit unlikely. We're flying with Ryanair, so taking our own seat would also cost about £60. The only other option I can think of is leaving DH and DD in the airport, popping to a hypermarket and buying a seat, then going back to pick them up, but I have no idea how feasible this is. Is it easy to buy seats in Italy? Are they expensive? Any advice much appreciated!

I am answering my own question - should have done my research - Ryanair only charge £10 each way for baby equipment including a car seat. This has made me very happy (which is good as carrying a ginormous car seat through an airport probably isn't going to make me very happy ...). Thought I would update in case anyone else ever has the same quandry!

Car hire companies charge outrageous fees to borrow a lump of polystyrene booster seat. A good dodge is to buy a portable/inflatable one which is useful for taxis to the airport, also trips with grandparents, etc, as well as the holiday itself. See here
