How long does it take from where?

Do you realise that you can fly there for next to nothing? I paid £65 to go there a few weeks ago on Easyjet.

About 10 hours from Calais if you get a wiggle on. It's a very easy drive.

CarmenSales · 04/04/2011 14:52

But why why why?

carmen - Manchester to Dover 4 hours, 30 minutes on the chunnel, 10 hours to Calais.

You know that Google Maps can do all this for you?

mumble - because some people don't like flying, enjoy the drive and like to have a nice car when they are down there, rather than a crappy rental.

DP and I did journeys like this on our motorbikes all the time before DS. When he's old enough to ride pillion we'll start again!

I never fly for non-work reasons - can't stand it. Much rather take the train or drive - better for the environment too :)

hogsback · 04/04/2011 15:20

oops, meant 10 hours to Barcelona, not Calais. Obviously the chunnel takes you to Calais :)

thanks. i like road trips. google's automated and can't account for realities like potty breaks, fill ups, etc.

We drove to Sanguli, an hours + drive South of Barcelona last Summer.

We took a Dover Calais ferry then drove to a cheap Hotel in Clermont Ferrand for an overnight stop, and had a great drive next day to destination.

It was long but we often drive for 2 days to South of France so only a few extra hours.
