I have a travel cot, but the mattress with it won't go on a plane., its a normal mattress. I have to travel abroad with the cot shortly and what are my options? can you get blow up ones and do they go down small enough to fit in a suitcase? what should I avoid... advice very welcome, thanks!

little life arc2, weighs 2.8kg or something, goes up like a modern tent rather than a traditional cot. we use a thermarest with ours, rather than the mattress it came with (obviously at our own risk, not actually recommended by manufacturers) and break it down into its component bits (poles, 'flysheet', thermarest/mattress) rather than packing it in its actual bag so it fits in more easily.

we have taken it to italy on the train with all we needed for two of us and dd1 in two 60 litre rucksacks.

a nomad is a similar design, phil and teds also make a similar one, have a look at the travel cot reviews on mn too, both nomad and little life are reviewed, as is another one whose name escapes me that actually has a thermarest-style mattress as part of it.

also how old is your child? before 6 months you could use a samsonite bubble. they're small and light i believe...

not sure what you're referring to now... little life arc 2 is a travel cot and comes with a mattress, nomad is also a cot, you choose which mattress when you buy it, i think, the smaller, thermarest style one is more expensive though i think. the ncessity travel cot is also a cot (!). i have never seen one of these in real life though, so cannot vouch for them.

at 22 months she would be far too big for the samsonite one!

finally got the kids in bed and looked properley! i was looking at the wrong thing, just the sunshade which is shown with a picture of the cot! have found it now, thanks- like the nomad but its too pricey for me:)
