Lanzarote: Car seats in hire cars

We're off to Lanzarote soon and will hire a car, so we need a car seat for 2yo ds.

If I book one from the hire company do I risk turning up and finding 4 bits of sick stained foam held together with velcro & and a saggy seatbelt?

Should I just buy a light-ish one & take it?

This is our first holiday abroad with ds & I don't want holiday rage on day 1!!! More importantly, I don't want ds put at risk.

Does anyone have experience of this, or can perhaps recommend the hire company they used?

fanks

no experience but as i found out it often costs as much to hire a car seat as to buy a new one we're paying the extra luggage allowance to take our own! (ryanair)

I can't remember who the hire car company was, but we were given a shocking carseat in Lanzarote.

Conversely,in Mallorca we were given a brand new maxi cosi cabriofix for baby DS1.

I'd take your own, unless they can tell you which brand and model they will supply.

We just fly to france with easyjet and they will take your car seat and buggy for free with them which is great

We hired in Lanzarote and from memory car seat was ok, not good but ok. TBH car seats always seem to be pretty ropey from car hire companies even in UK and quite expensive, if there is a way to take your own I would go for it.
