Alton Towers - age recommendation?

Hello
I want to plan a day out for us (in the Midlands) and our 2 DS's aged 4 and 6.
I havn't been to Alton Towers since I was a kid - is it suitable for young children? Are there enough rides for them to go on to make it worthwhile etc.
If not, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I think Drayton manor is more suited to little ones, I would say about 8+ for Alton towers

Gullivers World at Warrington or Matlock would be ideal for this age. We have spent many happy days at Gullivers in Warrington . Good value for money.Good rides.

Not a lot for younger ones at Alton Towers. Agree, Gullivers World much more suited, or Flamingo Land (North Yorkshire). Check their websites, they usually list the rides.
