ok, so we need to stay near inverness, and the lodge i loved is too far away to be practical (aviemore). I absolutely loathed butlins, so is this going to be more of the same? the kids would love this - crazy golf, beach etc but i have visions of butlins by the sea....any views?

I don't think Nairn sells itself on being 'Butlins on Sea' so you should be fine.

When we lived along the coast we used to take DCs to the beach all the time and there's not a great deal 'manmade' (arcades, miniature boats, trampolines etc) to do on Moray firth - it's mostly natural beauty etc. When we were visiting grandparents down south we decided to take the DCs to Hastings, but no they didn't want to go to the beach again! Anyway off we went and when we got there, the DCs eyes were on stalks they had never seen a beach town like it!

I think your Dcs will love it. Hope you have afun trip.

oh brilliant - thank you. i am quite excited - it's the middle of our road trip - Yorkshire, Inverness, Cadbury World, Essex...

I think someone has screwed your map into a ball if you think Nairn/Inverness is in the middle of those other three Grin.

Hope you have safe trip.

If it's lochloy you'll be perfectly fine - have never stayed myself, but passed through often enough. The caravans are just that, but there is a decent playpark and you're close to the beach and the Nairn beachfront. We often park beyond the grounds to visit the beaches to the east

As far as holiday parks go it looks pretty good to me

  • thank you! my (very old) grandparents drove out to see it when i mentioned it, bless them. It is Lochloy - I am just nervous of a repeat of the beer/ slot machine type holiday we had once...I'm actually quite excited and the dcs are over the moon (crazy golf and a caravan, boys' idea of heaven!)
