Thinking of booking a campsite holiday in this region next spring - does anyone have any recommendations?

We have stayed with Haven (now Siblu) at La Carabasse on 3 occasions. It is a good park with plenty of facilities & you can walk through a vineyard to the beach, or drive & park. They have their own beach club as well.

This year we are going here a bit further along towards Spain.

we've been to la sierne a few times -( Milliways link)We love it there.. its quite commercial if you dont mind that but its got a great pool / play area for children, entertainment every night including shows, takeaways, restaurant, bar, shop.

The area there is nice too and there are a few things to visit - there is a zoo nearby.

Thanks Amylou - looking forward to it even more now! (DH didn't want to go last year as too far from beach!!! - we usually go to those with direct access)

Milliways, thanks a million, have looked at your La Carabasse link and it seems ideal. Will give them a call tomorrow to check on whether all facilities are available off season (we'll be going in May) and if so will book it - there's a 35% discount if I book by the end of October!

Will let you know how it goes

Booked it!

Great price, and everything available all season, so I'm looking forward to it.

Enjoy it. If you've booked with Haven your kids will get to meet Rory at The Tiger Shows each night. Mine used to love this. We sat outside with a drink to watch while the kids all dance. We have ALL the Tiger tapes!

Have a great time Have you booked an overnight stop? We use Novotels as can get 4 in a room with inclusive Breakfast. V.good value.

Thanks, milliways, we are going to sort out travel independently - as we live near a number of channel ports and want to research good deals etc. - but will definitely involve an overnight stop. I'll look into the Novotels; the siblu site is very helpful and does a route planner for you; there seem to be several large towns en route.

DH is very excited about going over some new viaduct that's been on the news (not as excited as he is about being next-door to a vineyard though .

Oh, BTW, DD said to tell you about the fab restaurant just down the road in Vias Plage (walkable). It has much more variety & is cheaper & more efficient than the on-site restaurant (which does nice meals but a bit pricey & VERY slow - but might have improved).

Also, there is a Wine Cave where we stocked up with almost 100 bottles, just nearby. You can try anything & we got some very good value Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignons. We missed that last year so had to try lots of stuff from Supermarket instead . Save lots of room in your boot

Oooooh, good thing we bought a bigger car this year .

Did you visit Cap d'Agde or Sete? They look gorgeous (if a bit expensive).

We went to Cap D'agde, there is a funfair there and a water park. The parking is manic, our car had it's wingmirrors bent in & some mad french car parked so close we could hardly open the door either side. At night for the fair it was ok though & the kids loved it. Nice area but VERY busy, much preferred the location of our campsite.

There is another fairground park opposite the campsite, not as big as Cap D'agde, but you can hear it sometimes (but it never disturbed us).

Montpellier is also well worth a trip, street artists, little Tourist train, old streets etc.
