Thinking of taking my 2yr old to Geneva and possible Zermatt for a few days at the start of next year does anyone have any suggestions of things to do and it is as expensive as every book I read says.

Hi,
Zermatt is GREAT and need not be exspensive.
Go to www.zermatt.ch for all the info you should need..

Loads of great playparks in Geneva city centre. Go for a water taxi ride from one side of the lake to the other - spring & summer time here. Take an one hours boat trip - just turn up at the lakeside & choose the trip. Eat in the Manor department store where there is a super buffet or Edwards cafe. There is a merrygoround in the old city as well. It's a great city for kids. It will be chilly so wrap up warm.

That sounds great as long there is enough for me and my daughter to do if her dad gets his way and spends the whole time snowboarding (don't think I have the nerve to take her on the slopes just yet)

Get a toboggan & try this out? Don't know Zermatt but other places have kids playparks covered in snow - really super.

Switzerland = expensive is not nec true. depends where you come from & what you're doing. If you're near London, i would say it's be similar if not even cheaper. Should be able to find loads of fun in the snow stuff for little kids - free as well as costing stuff. Make sure you have good snow stuff for kiddie to. nothing more miserable than a cold/damp toddler
