You know those clear plastic bags you have to put your liquids in at the airport?

Well, do they have to be a standard size or can I use a larger one but only half fill it IFYSWIM.

I thought any size as long as you only have the right amount of liquids.

I usually get those zip-lock bags from Smiths - have used large ones no probs.

hermioneweasley · 24/03/2011 20:07

there is a website that will tell you the dimensions - i think it's 20cm by 20cm max. different airports have different strictness on it - i've had to decant my stuff into a smaller bag before, and other times used a largish clear plastic make up bag with no issues.

You can get them at Tesco's, it's not the bags, but the size of the bottles, amount of liquid, as DeepPurple says.

(I only mention Tesco's cos that's the only place around us)!

Confusing! Think I'll just turn up with the bag I have and see what happens - have got very little in it anyway!

Oh and does it HAVE to be resealable?

Well, the ones they supply at the airport are open-ended so I'd say not. Handy to have sealable in case of leaks, though.

Well, friend who I'm travelling with tomorrow has a sealable clear make up bag thing so am going to use that.

Thanks for all your help!

I bought resealable food bags for my liquids and were told they were not compliant so had to buy three bags at £1 each from their "bag machine" and I didn't have any pound coins so had to go and buy some water in the duty free to get some change, it was a bloody nuisance!!
