We're looking to get away for the weekend from near Brighton with DS (14 months and walking).

We're after a good place to stay with spacious rooms (for the travel cot), quiet (so DS isn't disturbed) and serving great food. A luxury hotel would be fine, but equally a gastro-pub with rooms.

We were thinking of the New Forest so that we could hire bikes and get out and about but somewhere with a pool would be equally good, nice beach, bascially something to entertain a toddler! And within 2 hours of Brighton.

I'm trawling the net at the moment but most of the luxurious places require a minimum 2 night stay which is not what we're after (too pricey!)

All suggestions gratefully received.

you could try the following.

The Spread Eagle . This is in Midhurst, W. Sussex, pool but no beach. They sometimes have deals on lastminute.com.

The Place at Camber Sands . In E. Sussex, beach but no pool.

The White House Hotel . In Charmouth, Dorset. Near beach but no pool.

hth.

Thanks for those bossykate. The Spread Eagle looks particularly nice - not too far either.

Sorry - I was typing too quickly last time, what I meant was it doesn't have to have a pool or a beach but something so that we can have fun as a family. That's where the cycling idea came from and watersports are always good.
