Sorry, this question about flying has probably been asked a 1000 times

Am I mad to consider taking my 4.5 month old DS to NYC in April? I'm scared about the flight and pressure in the cabin/ears etc. But if I don't go now, then the window of opportunity closes as my friend is leaving...

If you think it will be okay, any advice? I don't want to cause him any discomfort.
