Best Self Catering Villas to rent in Caribbean

Planning to go around 20th August with 2children (9 and 11) for 7-10 days.
Anyone got any good info on which island and good villa - ideally near beach (within walking distance)

In my experience I would only rent a villa if it were on a beach resort complex with resort facilities. Sorry to be negative, but I also doubt very much there are any flights left anyway for the April dates you want. Have you checked to see how much it would cost and flight availability to get you to the Caribbean on those dates, using BA or Virgin's websites? It might rule it out straight away.

I know these Tobago villas are good, was lucky to stay in YellowBird for a few nights some years ago. But they may be full anyway and you'd need to hire a car to get to the shops www.tobagobeachvillas.com

Tranquility Bay Antigua tranquilitybayantigua.com - self catering apartments have one and two bed suites close to Jolly Harbour and Jolly Beach with lots of amenities near by see for holidays inclusive of flights Plus they are walkable to the beach.

Have a look at Royal Westmoreland in Barbados. They have a website but you can rent villas cheaper with the villa owner (just do a search for villa rentals & there'll be a few companies). August is a quieter time in Barbados (but weather still nice) & Barbados tends to get fewer hurricanes as they are further south than other Caribbean islands (something worth considering as Aug is in the middle of hurricane season!)

The resort is a little way from the beach but they do a shuttle service a few times a day & it's only about 5 mins away!
