Foreign currency what is the best way?

We're off to France later this year having not travelled abroad for years, was wondering what is currently the best way to get your Euros?

7 or 8 years ago we used to just get money out of cashpoints in Europe with debit cards, but have heard about cards being declined abroad for security reasons, also exorbitnt bank charges. The Post Office tried to sell me a prepaid card when I got the passport forms.

What would be the best thing to do?

I reckon cashpoints but make sure you take the maximum out (usually ?200) as your bank will charge you a minimum fee.

If you go onto moneysavingexpert there is a section on it.

Drawing from cashpoints really depends on your bank, some don't charge much, others charge a ridiculous amount. We tend to go onto MSE, there is a tool on there that you enter how much you want, it gives you the best rate. Tends to be preordering and picking up from airport

Thank you both, never thought of looking on MSE, there is such a lot of useful info on that site. I think we used to do that before, one of us take out £200 and split it, rather than maybe taking out money each fom the machine.
