for my CM and her family-her husband has recently had to start using a wheelchair.
She rang the usual campsite they go to in Dorset but they only have one static caravan adapted for wheelchair users and it's booked up til October.

She really needs a break and something to look forward to. They will probably be going with friends that don't require disabled access. Do any of you know anywhere nice on the Dorset coast that would be able to cater to their needs?

thank you!!

sandford not right on the coast but easy reach. nice park, been a few times. Looks to have accessible caravans.

CatIsSleepy · 15/03/2011 10:56

That particular one is on level ground too, as is West Bay IIRC. Warmwell is hilly.

aargh there's very little availability

i have a feeling that sandford one might be one she's been to before (when her dh was not in a wheelchair)-she said she'd rang them and they only had one suitable caravan, not available til october

dammit!

What about Sandy Balls, that is always mentioned on here?

CatIsSleepy · 15/03/2011 12:22

actually their west bay park looks more promising- there's a week in august and some 3 and 4 night breaks in june and july, that might do

will check out sandy balls!

We've stayed at Waterside Holiday Park in Weymouth which is lovely and I think they do disabled access caravans. If not, PHAB have two there that members can book via their website if that's any help?

CatIsSleepy · 16/03/2011 11:25

loops, that looks great, I'll pass on the details, thank you!

loopsngeorge- just wanted to say a BIG thanks again, my CM has now booked a long weekend and a week in summer at Waterside through PHAB. The caravans are brand new apparently and look great. She is really pleased Smile
