travel cot alternatives

Hi, I am in need of something for our bundle of joy to sleep in on the odd weekend away and travel cots are generally heavy, bulky and involve sleeping very close to the floor which must be chilly. There is a great Phil and Teds one which is very light and small but it is £130 and the Samsonite pop up folds small but is completely on the ground.
Has anyone seen anything which is a bit different that would do the job. My husband wants to find a large cardboard box and use that so all help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have the travel arc 2 and that does the job for camping and any places we go that can't provide. We can even fit it in our suitcase. It's very sturdy and has a nice thick mattress and also doubles up as a uv shelter. It is also very easy to put up.

How old is he? Ours had my first readybeds from about 18months I think and loved them.

He's 4 months. The travel arc looks good and can double as a sun shelter. Did closing the zip disturb the sleeping beauty?

I have the P&T and it is great and fits inside a large holdall. Ikea cot sheets fit the blowup mattress which it comes with.

No Patricia the zip is good but the top also can be left undone like a normal travel cot too if you wanted to lower him in with out unzipping the sides.
