Has anyone been to this town in the Charent-Maritime region of France? Is it a good family destination with decent eateries?

Not got any recent experience I'm afraid, but I always used to go to St Georges de Didonne for my summer hols as a child. We stayed at the Bois Soleil campsite, which was fab, and which is still going. The beaches were great, with family size waves, unlike some of the beaches a little further south along the coastline.

Oh nice choice! We live about 40 mins from there. Are you planning a beachy holiday? or travelling around the region? When are you planning to go? How old are the kids you need to entertain? There is the lovely massive main beach, but also some good hidden ones. Also er... a fair few nudy-dudy beaches, if that's your thing!

We had 2 weeks holiday in Charente Maritime last August and loved it.. we were inland though, about 40 mins from coast.

Going back next August and cant wait.
