I am looking for a holiday for August for DH, myself and 3 and 5 year old DCS.We want a 2 bed apartment, near a beach and in or near a town with nice shops/restaurants, kids club that takes 3+ so we can have a few hours off duty every day, pool and as chav free as possible ie, Not tacky, without fish and chip shops everywhere and lardy tattooed loud mouths. I have been looking at evrything from first choice to MW but a personal reccomendtion would be better.Any suggestions? Thanks

hi we are a family of five and we went to puerto pollensa in majorca last july, it was lovely, beautiful resort with lots of restaurants, a lovely beach, i didnt see many chavs there and no fish and chip shops, we stayed at valentin puerto azul aparthotel, it had a very good and well run mini club, for various hours of the day, it took children from age 3, i would highly recommend it

We stayed at the Aparthotel Milenij in Baska Voda, Croatia a couple of years ago and it was brilliant. I'm not sure whether there are kids clubs in the summer as we don't require them, but the place was definitely not chavvy and the Brits haven't rediscovered Croatia yet. The flight from Manchester to Split was less than 3 hours and transfer time was one hour.

A second vote for Puerto Pollensa - a lovely resort. Popular choice for mumsnetters.

Haha, times like these I love mumsnet. 'I didn't see many chavs there'.

try this This is a lovely resort, about 10 mins from Marbella, 15/20 from Puerto Banus. One of the best beaches on the Costa Del Sol and definitely no chavs in this part. The area itself is lovely, restaurants of all descriptions, def no fish, chip, red face brigade wanting Stella for breakfast, couple of good supermarkets, nice bars, two very nice beach clubs and about 30 mins from the airport.

Carry on ... what would you do if you did "see" a chav? lol

Thanks all. Lots of useful info there.

DDD Grin well who knows? Maybe I will strip off my boden dress, throw away my Good School Guide and drop my organic free range diet and join them. As you say, if you can't beat 'em ..... Grin

I think it maybe Puerto Pollense, if it's ood enough for MN it's good enough for me Wink

Another vote for P Pollensa!! We have stayed there twice and also had a week in Oct half term in Soller in a fab farmhouse- booked with Simpson Holidays. It was gorgeous! we hired a car and travelled all over the island to beaches, villages and it was great- Deia very beautiful. We have 3 DC and had MIL with us, it suited us all, restaurants very informal and good value. Also had a very nice day out in Palma. I really llke Majorca for the short flight too. We have been to a lot of diferent places and are fairly well travelled (ex pats) and I think its a lovely family place to go.
