Where is hot and sunny at Easter?

Thinking of a holiday in Easter hols - we've had a rough few months and really need it. Want somewhere hot enough to sit by the pool and read while the kids play in the pool/beach. Is Turkey hot enough, do you reckon? Websites seem to suggest 64 degrees as an average Hmm. Any other ideas?

The Canaries have lovely weather all year round. Greece, anywhere, is too hot in summer but perfect at Easter. We went to Spain a few Easters ago for my birthday Smile and it was sunny during the day but chilly in the evening, and the pool was freezing.

I'm not very well travelled! HTH though Smile

Dubai?

barbie1 · 13/03/2011 04:51

I'm in dubai now, its hot...unusually so. Should be averaging late 20's early thirties at easter.

EmmaBGoode · 13/03/2011 05:07

Yeah, I'm in Dubai too. The weather really is beautiful today.

EmmaBGoode · 13/03/2011 05:47

Yeah, it's funny how you can be jealous of countries with rain, isn't it? Smile

EmmaBGoode · 13/03/2011 05:48

GotArt, about Mexico...

I am going to LA with my 5 year old in a few weeks' time, and I'd love to hop over the border to Mexico. Is it safe, though? You hear so many stories...

Emma

Tijuana is a dump; you're better off remaining within the US. San Diego is a much nicer place to visit for a day trip from LA, your 5 year old may like to see their zoo.

Cyprus? Only 4 hours from Uk.

Turkey and Greece are not dead Cerys for warm Easter weather. I have been in the Aegean coast of Turkey in a winter coat in April. It's actually quite hard to get flights out there at Easter. Having said that it is a late Easter this year so probably warner than most.

The Red Sea coast of Egypt (around Sharm) would be hot. You can pick up real bargains there at the mo as they are losing bookings due to the troubles. Sharm had no riots and the FCO says it's safe to travel there.

Artichokes · 13/03/2011 09:04

That should say "not dead certs". Bloody autocorrect!

EmmaBGoode · 13/03/2011 09:29

Thanks AttilaTheMeerkat, but we've done San Diego. Great zoo!

Yeah, I get that Tijuana is a dump. Just thought it might be an interesting dump Grin

Thailand - went at Easter last year and was perfect. Bit of a haul though but worth it.

Turkey is warm in APril but not hot. The swimming pools will be very cold though and so will the sea. Many of the Turkish resorts don't open up fully until the end of April/beginning of May.

HappyAsIAm · 28/03/2011 12:13

Egypt would be warm, but not stiflingly hot. SIL went a couple of weeks ago, and she loved it. Depends how you feel about the political situation though.

KnackeredOfLeeds · 04/04/2011 09:40
