Anniversary break

It's our 10 year anniversary this September. We have twin boys who will be just over 2 and being left at their grandparents. We have downgraded our plans as it became clear that leaving them for very long isn't an option (yet!), so have settled on 3 nights away.

But where? Easy travelling - no car, ideally direct from Edinburgh, about 4 hours max by plane or about 8 by train, UK or europe.

We are knackered! So relaxation is key, good beer/wine and food needed too. Not big sunlovers, but Europe in September should be just nice. We wouldn't be put off by UK weather though.

Our honeymoon was in Prague, loved that. Thinking about Germany? Love the idea of Cornwall but it seems a bit far to get to (by train). Suggestions very welcome.

SkyScanner will help you narrow down destinations/prices from Edinburgh. How about Munich with Easyjet, or Lyon (also Easyjet), it's supposed to be a great place for food, this article might help.

What about Barcelona? Will be lovely that time of year and great atmosphere, food/wine etc.

I live in Barcelona, very nice and amazing city, but I wouldn't define it romantic. My choice would be Paris or Venice. But if you do decide to come here, I'll be happy to help you organize your trip!
