Greece - October Half Term

Have been saving frantically for ages and we have now decided to splurge on a holiday in the October half term. I have thought of Greece but would love some personal recommendations. Would like somewhere that had something for my 8 year old son and some 'historic' bits that we could look at. I imagine that 'historic' wont be a problem in Greece though. More worried that everything will be shut down in October. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Crete will fit the bill. I don't know when half term is in October (early or late) but crete is so far south that the weather should be fine. You can go to Knossos and you could feasably do a 48 hour trip to Santorini and the volcano too if he woukd be interested. October is great in Greece because the sea is warm after the long hot summer. Smile

Yes, would agree, Crete would be good, or Rhodes.
