Where to go in Turkey?

We have looked at the following places:

Gumbet, Antalya, Icmeler, Marmaris, Bodrum, Side, Alanya, Belek, Kemer, Olu Deniz

We don't want somewhere that's full of english pubs and cafes serving full english breakfasts and fish and chips, so which of the above should we avoid?

your best bet to visit would be Side, Belek , Kemer Or Olu Deniz .

Avoid Marmaris!

Bodrum is very nice but there isn't too much of a beach there, Gumbet has a nice beach and is quite a livley resort without being too British or if you facny somewhere a little quieter the next resort along, Bitez is also lovely.

I used to live near Bodrum and we love it there!

Lala Have you been to the other resorts I mentioned?

i have been to Belek but work in travel and have done for 12 years so have a good idea of most resorts.
Belek, Kemer and Side are resorts full or 4 and 5 star quality hotels , only side though has much going on outside the hotel though .

Olu Deniz has always been a popular resort to see the real Turkey .

It's not that i would not go to the others but marmaris and icmeler are long transfers if you are taking kids although still very popular. as is Bodrum and Gumbet

Is there anything with a transfer of an hour or less?

Belek is only 30 -40 minute transfer

All the resorts on the Bodrum Peninsula are less than an hour. Bodrum is 30 minutes, Gumbet 40 minutes and Bitez 45 minutes.

If you like what you see, then a colleague of mine has a basic 2 bed appt, high season approx. £280 per week. We went last year, amazing place, but the heat!!!!!!!!!! oh purleazzze! 40 deg was a cool day. No swimming pool, but walk into town and hook up to the 5* Yucelon hotel and you will have a fab time!

Flights would be approx. £300 + pp for end July\ Aug
